Materials
• One crew neck tee
• Sulky Fabri-Solvy™
• 24″ x 10″ piece of stretch mesh
• 1 ¼ yd. narrow elastic
Step 1. Make the Lace
Open embroidery editing software and retrieve embroidery design DB 11 from the Magna-Quilts & Borders CD. Select the straight border area and delete it.

Copy the remaining area, paste and mirror it horizontally. Separate the two designs so they are ½″ apart.

If you have a large hoop, then you can stitch two repeats in one hooping. Select all, copy and paste.

Join the two designs as shown below.

Send the design to the machine.
To embellish just the front neckline, you will need approximately 20″ of finished lace. Hoop the stretch mesh and Fabri-Solvy. Rehoop as necessary to create the length of lace.
Rinse the lace in warm water to dissolve the Fabri-Solvy. Air dry the lace. Fold the strip in half lengthwise to find the center and mark with a pin.
Step 2. Create the New Neckline
Place the tee on a dress form. Mark the center front and back and draw a new neckline, making it symmetrical from shoulder to shoulder. Pin the elastic to the tee at one shoulder seam. Gently stretch the elastic around the front neck to the opposite shoulder seam. Pin the elastic to the tee on the marked curve. Mark the elastic - shoulder seam, center front and shoulder seam. Remove the elastic from the tee but DO NOT cut the elastic.
Pin the elastic to the center of the lace, matching the ends of the lace with the shoulder seam marks and the center of the lace to the center front mark.
Select a stretch stitch. Place the elastic and lace under the sewing machine foot. Take three short stitches to anchor the pieces together. Stretch the elastic to fit the length of lace (pin to pin). Sew. The lace will gather behind the foot. Do NOT cut the elastic at the end.

Pin the lace to the marked neckline, starting at one shoulder and extending over to the opposite shoulder.

Work the remaining length of elastic (stretching the elastic a bit) around the back neck and pin.

Remove the tee from the dress form. Sew the lace and elastic to the neckline with a stretch stitch. Trim the excess fabric from the new neckline.
