Frequently Asked Questions - Quick-Snap
Q: How can you promote a product utilizing
magnets on a computerized embroidery machine? Isn’t that dangerous?
A: Extensive research has shown that the
position of the magnets on the Quick-Snap frames while embroidering does not
cause any damage to computerized embroidery machines. The metal frame absorbs
the electromagnetic pull which, while strong enough for hooping, is not strong
enough to pass through this field. Most commercial machines do not even have
magnetic fields in the lower arm assembly.
The use of magnets in this application has been
thoroughly tested with no adverse effects. Additionally, of the thousands of
Magna-Hoops/Quick-Snaps that have been sold, there has not been a single report
of any problem which was caused by magnets properly placed on the hoops.
Magnets CAN damage magnetic computer data;
therefore, use caution. Do not put them in direct contact with diskettes, and
memory sticks. Some design cards are susceptible as well. To be on the safe
side, watch where you put your magnets! The manufacturer of the Magna-Hoop does
not take responsibility for damaged diskettes, memory sticks, design cards or
other media that is damaged due to user error.
Q: When I load a design into my machine to
stitch it on a Quick-Snap frame, the only frame that is centered is the 5” x 5”
one. What’s up with that?
A: Since the embroidery machine has no idea
which frame is being used, it is essential to center the design in the frame.
Here are some suggestions which might be helpful:
- Print a template and
mark the center of the design on the fabric with a target sticker, straight
pin or a piece of tape.
- Using a sharpie, mark
the centers of each side of the acrylic frames. Use a piece of paper to
determine the center. Place a corner of the sheet of paper toward the
center of the hoop and then align the two sides with two marks on the
frame. Where the corner point of the paper is will be the center of the
hoop.
- A centering ruler (from
In the Hoop Tool Kit) will also help to determine the center of the hoop.
Q: I have the Janome MB4 machine. I want to
stitch out a small design in the 6” x 7” pant leg frame, but it won’t let me
move the design. It will only let me move it within the area of the M3 hoop.
Do I have to load a large design to make this hoop work?
A: All that is required in this case is to
override the hoop designation which is automatically assigned by the machine
based on the size of the design. It is a simple process.
If the machine is defaulting to the small hoop,
and you cannot relocate your design to the proper place on the Quick-Snap frame,
then you must override the default hoop with a larger hoop. To do that on the
MB4, complete the following steps:
- With the design up on
the screen, select the MENU option on the LCD screen.
- Then select the grid to
open the editing window.
- Then select the hoop
selection option.
- Override the M3 hoop
with a larger hoop, such as M1.
- Then relocate your
design to the appropriate area where you want to stitch it.
Remember - ALWAYS, trace the design to make
sure it clears the hoop and is in the proper location for stitching.
Q: When I use the stabilizer magnets to hold
my stabilizer on, they come off when I am stitching and the metal frame goes
over the arm of the machine. Will they not work to hold my stabilizer?
A: The function of the stabilizer magnets are
just for assistance with hooping. The stabilizer magnets may be removed before
you ever take your hooped item to the machine. They have already done their
duty. Once the top magnets are in place, the stabilizer is being held in place
by them.
